This test measures the level of specific Immunoglobulin E (IgE) to rye flour. It is used to detect rye allergy and assess the potential effectiveness of allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT).
- The test can be taken 2 hours after the last meal.
- No smoking for 3 hours before the test.
- Avoid physical and emotional stress for 1 hour before the test.
Symptoms of a Rye Allergy (Can Resemble Allergic Rhinitis):
- Swelling of the throat mucosa
- Runny nose
- Watery eyes
- Fever
- Elevated levels indicate that the condition is of allergic origin, and rye flour is a potential trigger.
- Normal levels suggest no detectable IgE-mediated rye allergy, but further testing may be needed for non-IgE-mediated reactions.
