Specific IgE – Oat Flour (f7)

This test measures the level of specific Immunoglobulin E (IgE) to oat flour. It is used to detect oat allergy and assess the potential effectiveness of allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT).

  • The test can be taken 2 hours after the last meal.
  • No smoking for 3 hours before the test.
  • Avoid physical and emotional stress for 1 hour before the test.

Symptoms of an Oat Allergy (Can Resemble Allergic Rhinitis):

  • Swelling of the throat mucosa
  • Runny nose
  • Watery eyes
  • Fever
  • Elevated levels indicate that the condition is of allergic origin, and oat flour is a potential trigger.
  • Normal levels suggest no detectable IgE-mediated oat allergy, but further testing may be needed for non-IgE-mediated reactions.
