The Covid-19 IgM test is used to detect the early stages of infection. IgM antibodies usually appear 7–10 days after infection and remain in the blood for up to 21 days, but in some cases can be detected for 30–35 days. A positive result may indicate recent infection with the virus, while a negative result may occur if antibodies have not yet developed.
In addition, Covid-19 IgM results should always be evaluated together with other tests, particularly the PCR test and the Covid-19 IgG analysis. Relying solely on IgM results is not sufficient for an accurate diagnosis, and the interpretation of results should be performed by a physician.
