In myasthenia, a person becomes easily fatigued and weak, experiences drooping eyelids, slurred speech, and difficulty chewing and swallowing. The main symptom of the disease is muscle weakness.
Other symptoms may include:
Rapid fatigue of the chewing muscles
Difficulty breathing
Rapid fatigue of neck muscles
General weakness
Pathological tiredness
Drooping eyelids (ptosis)
Speech disorders
Difficulty swallowing
Myasthenia is a chronic progressive disease that is treated by a neurologist.
People with myasthenia should avoid sun exposure, heavy physical activity, and certain medications (such as magnesium supplements, diuretics, and some antibiotics), as these factors can negatively affect their condition.
