Therapeutic use of phenobarbital for the treatment of epilepsy and acute seizures should be limited. Phenobarbital should not be used for its sedative or hypnotic properties except when used as an adjunct in anesthesia.

Phenobarbital should not be used in the treatment of epilepsy, generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and simple partial seizures, which are also indications for the prevention and treatment of convulsive seizures.

  • The test can be taken 3-4 hours after the last meal.
  • Consult your doctor regarding the temporary discontinuation of the medication.
  • Determination of drug toxicity levels.
  • Monitoring the concentration of the drug in the blood.

The test results are evaluated by the treating physician, taking into account:

  • Dosage of the drug
  • Method of administration
  • Patient’s age
  • Comorbid conditions
  • Individual drug tolerance
